How on earth did I get here?
IT’S NOT TOO LATE. What a simple and often heard expression. I had heard it many times in my life. We have all had good and bad experiences with ‘it’s not too late’.
It’s not too late to buy tickets to your favorite band’s concert. Most likely a good thing!
It’s not too late to buy tickets to your next door neighbor’s four year old niece’s ukulele pageant! I guess that sort of depends on how close you are with your next door neighbor and his four year old niece! 🤓
Kidding aside, have you ever deeply thought about that phrase: and then really connected and applied it to any important aspect of your life? What could that mean for you if you made the choice to do that?
For me IT’S NOT TOO LATE meant that I would make sure that my current and ongoing relationships with all of my children and their future children; will be everything I had ever dreamed they would be. It really is not too late to help repair any damage I have helped cause in the lives and minds of my four children. Even now, I feel I almost comprehend how equally important both a parent’s words and actions are to their own children (or any child who sees them regularly as an authoritarian in their lives).
It’s not too late to make darn sure that I know how grateful I am that I have had this realization. These examples of ‘Mistakes’ ‘Oversights’ ‘Immaturity’ can be a blessing when such valuable lessons are learned.
WOW! I went from having daily feelings of shame, guilt, stupidity, sadness and hypocrisy (I was such a great parent…) – to actually realizing in my present moment – that IT’S NOT TOO LATE! My family and I can make the best of everything we have now; and all that we have to look forward to.
I have Gestalt therapy and horses to thank for this.
My personal journey with Gestalt started subliminally. In the early 1970s, I overheard my parents talking about Gestalt as a form of therapy with their friends who were over for dinner. It is doubtful I understood much about their discussion, as I was maybe 6 years old at the time. In spite of this, that night seems to have planted a pivotal seed that somehow got stuck in the back of my mind.
This seed (the word Gestalt and that night) would lead me to choose to attend an Equine Gestalt™ retreat, over a large selection of other fairly similar retreats on offer, and the rest as they say, is history.
I firmly believe that we all have a main purpose in life. The small seeds are often peacefully planted and can be super subtle. These seeds are often held outside our awareness…….until much later in life. This is where the simple truth stays alive – there are no coincidences. The sooner we all understand and accept this, the sooner the world will be a happier place. It really is that simple.
Equine Gestalt™ is the authentic answer to healthier perspectives and perceptions, as well as increased self-awareness and overall peace of mind.
As a trauma informed trained professional, I help my clients take deep dives into their past trauma. According to Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, past trauma is held in the cells of various places within the body. These hiding places for trauma are protected by our ‘strategy’ – the rehearsed surface story we tell to any and all.
My purpose is to provide the perfect environment to allow for the inevitable vulnerability that comes when this past trauma makes its way to the surface, as it should, so the healing may begin.
Horses…
…are entirely authentic sentient beings. With an open mind and a horse, the world is your oyster!!

A tiny taste of Equine Gestalt is a giant leap towards more clarity, connection, harmony, balance and overall peace of mind. Who doesn’t want to taste something new?

The word Gestalt does not directly translate into English.
Connection and wholeness within body, mind and soul is Gestalt.
Being Right Here, Right Now, is Gestalt. Melisa Pearce began her work combining equines with her extensive knowledge of human psychology, in 1989. Â
